Your Guide to Siser HTV
When I first got my Cricut I was totally overwhelmed with all of the materials and accessories. Now that I have some experience under my belt, I am here to give you the low down on Siser HTV (heat transfer vinyl).
Before several months ago, Siser could only be ordered for the most part. Now, some local craft stores are now carrying it. However, there are still MANY different options and materials vary as to what it can be applied to.
Keep reading to find out all about the ultimate Siser HTV Guide. If you need to order vinyl now, you can go here. This is awesome for beginners because it is a sample pack with different options of colors.
I made a downloadable guide with the majority of Siser’s HTV. What you are seeing at Michaels and Joann’s is the Easyweed vinyl. (UPDATE: Michael’s has started to carry some of the stretch vinyl. Be sure to read the packaging carefully because they are all together in one section.) Even if it says glitter, electric, or holographic it is still Easyweed. The guide will show you how long to press it and the correct pressure. It will also let you know about layering, the optimal fabric to use, and what setting to set your Cricut on.
There are a few things you should know…
- ALWAYS wait 24 hours before washing any garment you have pressed
- NEVER dry clean any of the items you apply vinyl to
- If you are selling items to a client be sure to enclose a care card so they do not ruin their newly purchased garments
Download your care card here!
The care card is in SVG format. In order to use in Cricut Design Space, just download the file, open Design Space, upload it, and use the print and cut feature!
Full Instructions for the Care Instruction Card:
- Open DS
- Upload the SVG
- Select all (text and the box) and attach.
- Change from cut to print on ALL 3 items.
- Size as needed.
If you are unsure of how to use print and cut feature, Check out this post for a full tutorial
